Q:  When will I receive my headcovers?
A:  Our handmade custom covers usually take about four to five weeks to make. Currently, our order backlog has extended that turnaround time to approximately seven weeks. All of our efforts are devoted to making your custom headcover; we do not make "stock" covers and hence have no inventory of completed headcovers. Every headcover we make starts with a customer order and a ball of yarn.

Q:  I’m leaving for Scotland next week – can’t you rush my order in time for my trip?
A: Unfortunately not. But if you let us know what you want and we know of a pro shop that may have them in stock, we could put you in contact with them.

Q:  Can you do designs on the covers that go beyond stripes, numerals and initials?
A:  The simple answer is “it depends”.  The knitting pattern, or stitch, doesn’t lend itself to highly intricate designs but a basic one might be possible.

Q:  Can you embroider on the covers?
A:  No. We experimented with this over the past few years but abandoned it, as we were unhappy with the inconsistent quality.

Q:  How much do Jan Craig Headcovers cost?
A:  We’ve been told our headcovers are priceless. However, prices range from $27 for a putter cover to $53 for a driver cover. Typically a set of 3 covers cost about $150 depending on design options such as numerals and the size of the pom pon. Shipping rates apply and sales tax applies to Illinois residents. Go to the prices page for a full price list.

Q:  Can you attach labels or patches on the covers?
A:  For the most part, yes. Please call us to be sure.

Q:  How can the covers be cleaned?
A:  They should be dry cleaned because they’re made with 100% wool. The socks can be washed with Woolite or a similar product, but not the pom-pon or tassel due to the way they’re constructed. To brighten up a pom-pon that has experienced a lot of use, trim the outer edges of the pom with sharp scissors.

Q:  Can a damaged cover be repaired?
A:  Yes. Whether it’s due to moth damage, a Tommy Bolt moment, or something else – we can fix a hole, loose end, or the like – usually free of charge. We do ask that you pay for all shipping charges.

Q:  Can you do “volume” orders for outings, events or tournaments?
A:  Yes, with enough advance notice to have them ready prior to the event.

Q:  I want to give your covers as a gift but I don’t know what clubs the recipient carries in their bag?
A:  We offer gift certificates in any amount so the recipient can order exactly what they want.

Q:  Do you ship overseas? How do you handle customs?
A:  Yes, with UPS, who handles all the paperwork and payment duties.
